experience as a translator, reviser and copy editor in a wide variety of academic fields, including technology, science, medicine, sociology, economics, and the arts and humanities. She has given seminars on feminist translation practices and research methods, patriarchal discourse in the media, gender-inclusive language, and gender bias in science and scientific writing. She is currently a member of the Oriens HUM-940 Research Group at the University of Córdoba and is participating in a teaching innovation project on gender and language in translation. She is the author of book chapters that have appeared in Translation in and for Society: Sociological and Cultural Approaches in Translation (UCO Press, 2019) and Enfoques metodológicos para la investigación de género en traducción (McGraw Hill, 2020), among others.
Antonio Jesús Tinedo Rodríguez is a predoctoral researcher at the Department of Foreign Language Studies at UNED, Spain. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education (University of Córdoba, Spain) and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Studies (UNED). He has also obtained a Master’s Degree in Information Technologies and Communication in Language Education and Processing (UNED). His research interests focus on didactic audiovisual translation and the potential didactic applications of critical discourse analysis applied to texts written by English-speaking and Hispano-American female authors from a gendered perspective. He is now an honorary collaborator at the University of Córdoba’s Department of English and German Studies.
ABSTRACT: In the past few decades, universities have increasingly embraced the benefits of promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) policies. Some of the most pressing initiatives include fostering the representation of all under-represented groups and creating inclusive research and curricula. Thus, the fields of Translation Studies and Modern Language Education have welcomed new research and teaching trends which champion feminist translation as a tool to foster social and gender equality and to empower minority groups.
