John Passioura urges biologists , physiologists and agronomists to scientifically cooperate in order to solve problems of farmers

The success of agriculture depends on the permanent and bidirectional communication between researchers ( molecular biologists, physiologists and agronomists ) , farmers and markets. De los primeros depende aportar soluciones y nuevos conceptos, de los segundos, el planteamiento de problemas, y de los terceros, una demanda adecuada a las necesidades de la población. 
Providing solutions and new concepts depends on scientists; setting out new problems concerns to farmers, and a demmand adequated to the needs of the population is an issue to be managed by markets.
That is the scheme that John Passioura , principal investigator of the Australian science center has drawn this morning at the end of his talk at a seminar organized by the Department of Agronomy , University of Córdoba. This seminar will be available on the website of the Agrifood Campus of International Excellence ceiA3 .
A working model that Passioura has followed during his long career in CSRIO, and has resulted in the acceptance of new management models in their crops by Australian farmers. These changes have to do with the adaptation of crops to climate change and , therefore , to the increase in temperatures , which has enabled the early sowing of some crops , and also to the periods of drought.
Passioura has developed an outstanding scientific work in this line of investigation. In his lecture this morning he stressed the need for progress in genetic research of plants when selecting those genotypes with more efficient plants from the point of view of water. As an example, this Australian professor has talked about wheat with longer roots that allow them to exploit groundwater optimally.
The conference aimed to bring ceiA3 agricultural engineering students and researchers, scientific and innovative proposals that are performed all around the world and they often seek to solve common problems in agriculture at an universal level.
